A junior at Arizona State University majoring in biology. She has a wide circle of friends and is known on Instagram under the handle ‘Gene-ius Alexis’. She is hopeful about her life and career, yet a touch of apprehension lingers about her future.  

During the pandemic, she watched as billionaires took rocket ships into space while she struggled to buy eggs and wrestled with a 39% rent increase. 

She listens as adults claim her generation is out of touch with global issues, but finds herself questioning whether it’s the adults who might actually be out of touch with reality.

She observes them on Facebook engaging like children in contentious debates over masks and product boycotts, while seemingly oblivious to the fact that entire ecosystems are collapsing around them - issues that will undoubtedly have far-reaching consequences for generations to come.

Alexis is convinced a significant factor contributing to our country’s divide is the inability of adults to engage in constructive conversations about their differences - and she is part of the 53% of her generation who fear that this escalating divide may lead to a civil war within her lifetime.
